A cash reward scam is a fraud designed to trick victims into giving away personal information in exchange for a fake reward/prize.

Modus operandi
  • Scammers will claim to be representatives from a well-known organisation and inform you that you have won a cash reward, cash back, or prize.
  • The reward usually involves a large sum of money, making it seem like an attractive offer with little effort on your part. They will then send a message containing a link for you to click or a number to contact to claim the cash reward, cash back, or prize.
  • The link provided will direct you to a fake website intending to steal your banking login details.
What you should do?
  • Do not disclose sensitive banking details such as your identification card number, PIN, username, or password over the phone or messaging apps.

  • Be cautious when clicking links or contacting numbers provided through emails, messages, or other messaging apps.

  • Always contact official sources to verify any information you receive.
