Effective 1 July 2025, a Sales and Service Tax (SST) will be imposed on selected financial services. This is in line with the Ministry of Finance’s announcement on 9 June 2025 regarding the expansion of the SST scope to include certain fees and charges imposed by financial service providers, including BSN.

However, basic banking services will remain exempted from SST. These include:

• Deposits and withdrawals
• Payments and local fund transfers
• Basic transactions at branches and Self-Service Terminals (such as ATM/CDM and so on)
• Both Conventional and Islamic basic banking services
