The International Savings Banks Institute (ISBI) accepted BSN as a member in Geneva on 7 June, 1977.
1978
Premium Savings Certificate launched on 1 January by the Honorable Finance Minister, Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
1980
Setting up of the Central Computer System at the Head Quarters.
1982
The Bank hosts an international symposium on "The Mobilization of Personal Savings in Developing Countries" with the co-operation of the International Savings Banks Institute (ISBI).
1983
Introduction of the Bank's first Automated Teller Machine (ATM) service at Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya and and Ipoh.
1985
DYMM The Sultan of Kedah declares open the Bank's building in Alor Star.
1986
Opening of 30 new branches including the Perlis branch declared open by DYMM Tuanku Raja Perlis on 21 October, 1986.
1987
Launching of the GIRO service in the Klang valley.
1989
BSN hosted a regional workshop on the "Management Policies for Savings Banks in Asia Pacific Region". The International Savings Banks Institute (ISBI) which co-sponsored this workshop, was attend by representatives from Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Finland besides Malaysia.
1991
The Bank was once again given the honor to host the International Savings Banks Institute's (ISBI) member's meeting for the Asia Pacific Region. A total of 28 participants from 7 countries namely Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand besides Malaysia attended this meeting.
1994
In celebrating 20 years since its inception, BSN in line with the Government's aim to expand Islamic system of banking launched "Skim Perbankan Tanpa Faedah" (SPTF) which offered Al-Wadiah Savings Scheme, Al-Mudharabah General Investment Scheme and the Al Bai Bithaman Ajil Property Financing Scheme.
1995
Permodalan BSN Berhad (PBSNB), a fully-owned subsidiary of BSN launched the Amanah Saham BSN, with a total fund of RM500 million.
1999
The Bank organized a seminar on "Savings Bank Disrtibution Policies for Individuals" in-corporation with the 'World Savings Banks Institute (Previously known as the 'International Savings Banks Institute') for the Asia Pacific Region. The WSBI Head Office for the Asia Pacific Region in Bangkok was relocated in Kuala Lumpur following the appointment of BSNs Chief Executive Officer as the new president of WSBI.
2002
BSN introduces its "BSN Prihatin" ("BSN Cares") project in its efforts to fulfill its social obligations. RM325,000 was allocated to implement community projects in all the states.
2003
In line with the government's Economic Stimulus Package, BSN was entrusted by the government to manage the Micro Credit Scheme - a RM300 million fund was allocated for the financing of non - agricultural projects.
2004
BSN menukar kesemua mesin ATM yang beroperasi di seluruh Negara kepada Mesin ATM yang baru dengan ciri-ciri keselamatan keselamatan dan pelbagai kemudahan terkini untuk kemudahan pelangganya.
BSN changes all its ATM machines nationwide to new ATM machines that are equipped with the latest security features and services for the convenience of its customers.
2005
BSN Matrix-i was launched.
BSN expanded its services by joining MEPS shared ATM Network.
